What's the difference between DI and normal fuel injection?
What is special about the Cadillac Direct Inject engine compared to one with regular old fuel injection? Thanks.
After Market Warranty
Looking for ideas for good after market warranties...I have an 05 CTS with 51K and pondeering the thought of even buying a warranty...is it worth it??
Finally bought a Tahoe!
Well, I have been looking for the last 1.5 years for a nice Tahoe, preferably enthusiast owned. I bought a 1997 LS Tahoe last year, but sold it 4 days later for a nice $2,500 dollar profit.
I looked at everything from '00 Tahoe Limiteds, '99-'00 Tahoe Z71s, '99-00 Denalis, & '99-00 Escalades. I made a couple offers on some but never reached a deal till 2 weeks ago...
It is a 1996 Chevy Tahoe LT, always a South Florida truck. 2 owners, owned by a Marine Engineer who designs fancy Yachts for the rich & famous.
The chassis has 148K on it but the motor, tranny, suspension, rear, etc only have 33K on them since a full refurbish. When it was refurbished, they beefed up the motor and put a powerdyne supercharger, headers, etc etc. Tranny has a shift kit & is a mild upgrade. Auburn rear, ProComp 6 inch lift, blah blah blah.
I bought it sight unseen, but only after numerous phone calls & email exchanges. I flew down to South Florida on Tuesday, and it was pretty much as described. I took a look at some of his other fine autos/motorcycles and then hit the road with the bad boy truck.
I stopped in Atlanta the first day to visit a buddy of mine and then woke up early on Wed. to make the last leg of the trip. The supercharger came in handy in the Tenessee Mountains.
I averaged 14.5 mpg on the 1,400 mile journey at speeds of 60-70 mph. The Tahoe didn't even flinch, I was impressed! Had numerous thumbs up and people would come up to me everytime I filled up gas just to talk about the truck.
It needs a bit of TLC, but that is my specialty. By the Spring it should be looking pretty good and running even better. I want to find someone who can check the tune and make sure it is not running rich. I might send the supercharger to Powerdyne to change the belt.
Enough rambling.. here are the pics:

Image: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/leloz/IMG_0276.jpg
It rides much better than the lifted '97 Grand Cherokee I bought last year. It had a cheap ass Skyjacker lift kit. The ProComp lift kit on the Tahoe rides pretty good and doesn't have the highway "death wobble."
Take care!

Scary numbers
I was waiting for the CTS coupe but now that's it's pushed a year, I'm being forced to think about alternatives. My lease on my '06 CTS is up in April which is going to be here real fast. The '09 CTS sedan would be my next choice but even though the prices seem like a good deal(GMS), the rates GMAC are quoting for both lease and purchase are in a silly range. The online tool suggests 13% interest. Also forget about low money down as they require 12% down. Does anyone have a good expeience going through their own bank or credit union for a solid rate - or are all of the banks freaking out about GM's current position and the economy as a whole and bumping up rates and ripping risiduals lower? Being the son of a lifetime GM employee, I want to support GM and drive American, but I'm totally being tested and am starting to question common sense when I can lease an Infiniti G37 or Audi A5 for almost half of what GM is telling me for the new Caddy. YIKES!
Swaping Transfer Case
I have read through previous posts on this and haven't seen it, but if it is I apologize. I have an 04 V8 AWD with 65,000 miles that makes the "chain slipping on a sprocket" sound only when you hit the gas hard from a standstill. I went to trade it in a 08 CTS and they offered me $7500, stating the noise could be a problem. I do not want to pass this problem on to anyone and definately would be forthright with a private party (if a dealer checked it out and didn't see it.....). I am thinking my best case is to find one to install. My questions are:
1. Is there any good places to find one besides car-part.com
2. Do I have to know the part #?
3. Can I use a different year (and should I)?
4. How hard is it to do yourself?
I have decent automotive repair skills. I tore down a Jeep CJ 7 down to the fram and removed the trans and transfer case and reinstalled. With the SRX being 20 years newer and with a lot more electronics-does it change it that much?
I will be able to put it on a lift.
Thanks for all your help.

Got an email from my dealer saying car has shipped. Haven't gotten ahold of dealer by phone, maybe Tony can help, but I guess timing of delivery would depend on route, number of cars on truck and other variables.

Odd shifting
I got my '04 CVPI about a month ago now and I've noticed that when I'm driving like an a**hole, my car shifts odd. It's kind of hard for me to explain, really the only thing I can compare it to is it sounds like I'm physically shifting it from 3rd to 4th as if I had a standard tranny (which I don't)
Is this normal for CVs? Or is it possible something's wrong? Nothing really seems wrong, but I'm used to my truck which never hesitated like the car does when shifting.
rear electric window looms
i would like to fit the electric windows from an xr6 to my xt falcon when i took the trim off of one of the doors there doesnt seem to be the wiring harness to do this. i would have thought that ford would use the same wiring looms for all models and then just add or delete items to suit. can anyone tell me if there is a "pigtail"loom that can do this or do i have to make my own loom
Ford ba rear demister interfears with the radio when it on.
:newbie:
Hey everyone this is my first forums so i do Apologize if i do muddle this up.
Recently, I recived my first car. A 2003 ford falcon ba xt. Although I love the car, I have encountered this issue with the rear demisters interfering with the radio. By interfering with the radio, i mean i just lose reception to the radio and it just give out static noise when the rear demisters are on, however as soon as i turn off the rear demister the radio is working fine.
I took the car today at the mechanics next door to the place where I bought the car and he and a couple other mechanics were trying to figure out what the hell is going on. He tried to check and ensure that the wires are all correct, check if there is no problem with all the wires at the back where the windscreen and the antenna are and still have came across the same result. Eventually, he contact fords and said that this is a factory fault.
Has anyone exprience this issue with your ba and if so what your solution???

Air Bag Codes ' 93 Taurus
I have a '93 Taurus GL 3.0, and there are issues with air bag codes.
1. Sometimes after a rain coming in after it's been dry for a bit (3-5 days) I get what's either a 2 / 4 or a 4 / 2. What does this indicate?
2. I just had the heater core and blendoor actuator replaced at a local shop, so the instrument panel was out. The air bag light is giving what seems to be a 5 / 1 sequence. Is something not reconnected?
Is there a source of a list of these codes?
Many thanks!

EF Dramas...Help!
G'day,
Have not been the owner of my Fairmont long as i have just switched from the Red Team!
I do have a problem someone may shed some light on.
When starting my EF Fairmont the motor fires as intended but this is followed by an insanely loud rattle that does not disappear, to the point where the decibels prevent me from driving it.
I have been advised this may be the teeth/shaft? of the starter motor not fully returning back into the SM after start up and the noise is the shaft hitting the flywheel?
As i said any help would be good, happy to just replace the SM to remedy problem, can this be done with a jack and a few stands in the shed?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers

throttle body q
If you tighten your idle screw all the way down, and start to unscrew it, how many turns would you say it takes to have it at a normal idle? Just wondering cause mine was unscrewed all the way. Wasnt even touching the throttle and i want to put it where its suppost to be. Right now with it in gear(holding the brake) its at about 300-400rpm. Is that normal or a little low? Before i adjusted it my car was shaking and constantly wanting to almost die while it was in gear, idling. its not shaking all the time now. Just half the time. So you can tell its still a little off.
My 83 Lesaber idles at 500rpm in gear and holding the brake.

5 Reasons Why You Guys Are Still Single
---Quote---
Do you find yourself wondering why most of your buddies have steady dates, yet you can barely secure a first date, let alone a second (and, playing a regular game of Mahjong and Canasta with your grandparents and their friends doesn't count)? Guys, if so, it's time to ask yourself a few Foxy questions...
Do you... have a problem with eye contact? Even if you love everything about this other person, it won't matter, if you can't take your eyes off their body parts. They'll likely think you're out for one thing, or that you're just kind of creepy. Sure, they might be wearing something revealing, but that's no excuse to stare all night long. Get a grip and get comfortable with eye contact, which creates a much better bond.
Do you... eat like a caveman? Utensils are there for a reason -- so you can eat like a gentleman. Shoveling food into your mouth is not something you should subject your date to. Same goes for talking while chewing. Not only is it unpleasant to watch at a time when your job is to be easy on the eyes, it's a red flag that says you're a little short on self-awareness -- an important characteristic in a mate.
Do you... trim your toenails? Not that your date will necessarily see your toenails right away, but when they do end up eyeballing them, unkept toenails are a guaranteed huge turnoff. It means you don't take care of yourself, and valuing yourself is an important part of a healthy relationship. Plus, let's not forget the damage they can do to the other person's leg when you're snuggling up on the sofa watching movies.
Do you... order "everything on the side" at a restaurant? In other words, do you order like a girl? Please don't. Because if your date has to be tortured by, "I'll have the Cobb salad, but no cheese, avocado, or bacon, and dressing on the side, and the pasta, but no oil please, and extra light on the pinenuts," they may be forced to hide under the table or at least wonder what kind of demanding partner you could be. If you have dietary restrictions, do your best, just don't get into what will happen to your belly if you don't follow them.
Do you... assume you're going to strike out? The Secret said it once but we'll say it again: In a lot of ways, you manifest your own destiny. So, if you have lots of thoughts about being unlucky in love, you may be pushing people away in ways you may not even know. If you assume the worst of the world and yourself, spend a few minutes before your date making a mental list of why you're looking for a relationship and why you are an incredible a catch.

WASHINGTON - Mortgage finance companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are suspending foreclosures during the holiday season.
The two companies say they will halt foreclosure sales between Nov. 26 and Jan. 9, while they evaluate whether borrowers qualify for a new loan modification program.
Fannie and Freddie's loan modification plan aims to help abate the foreclosure crisis by aiding homeowners who have fallen at least three months behind on their payments, but only if their loans are held by the two companies.
Under the program, the new primary mortgage payments _ including taxes and insurance _shouldn't total more than 38 percent of homeowners' pretax monthly income.

Hello all. I have a 06 lucerne cxs currently riding on 22" rims with 255-30-22 tires which look kind of smallish. My question is can I run 265-35-22 tires with no suspension modifications? ...and to all the true diehard buick fans I KNOW THEY ARE TOO BIG, I KNOW I'VE RUINED MY RIDE, I KNOW THEY...
For those that have Buick Enclaves (or the one of the other lambdas):?
If I would have two carseats on each of the 2nd row captain's chairs, is there enough room to access the 3rd row seat through the space between the seats?

Making Bay Area friendly for electric cars
*Making Bay Area friendly for electric cars*
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/11/21/BA1A1494TB.DTL
Image: http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2008/11/20/ba-electric21_ph_0499474651.jpg
Bay Area environmental leaders are counting on a $1 billion investment to build the nation's first electric vehicle network - with service stations to recharge batteries and garages to swap depleted batteries for fresh ones - and finally make the gasoline-free cars practical.
The Palo Alto-based company Better Place says its network of electric-vehicle charging stations will cover the Bay Area by 2012. In exchange for the investment from Better Place, the mayors of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland announced plans Thursday to collectively create cohesive regulations for electric vehicles that will apply to cities and counties throughout the region.
In San Francisco, Mayor Gavin Newsom said the city will use tax breaks to promote sales of electric vehicles and encourage homes and businesses to make charging stations widely available. The city will also look at ways to speed up the permitting process to install charging outlets at homes and businesses.
"We're going to get serious about advancing our local climate action plans, about getting into the business of alternative transportation," Newsom said during a news conference at City Hall. "I don't believe halfway is good enough. I'm a guy driving a hybrid (vehicle) and I don't feel too good about that. For us to get to the next level, we need unprecedented regional collaboration."
Better Place has built similar networks in Israel, Denmark and Australia, but the Bay Area infrastructure, which will allow drivers of electric vehicles to make long-distance trips without worrying about finding a place to charge or change a battery, will be the first of its kind in the United States.
San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland will begin implementing their own policies next month, with plans to make electrical outlets for low-voltage vehicles available on all public buildings next year. Higher-voltage charging equipment also will be made available at city parking lots and curbs - including one plan to put outlets in sidewalk streetlights in San Jose and San Francisco.
In the current economic and political climate, it's more important than ever that the United States find creative ways to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, said Shai Agassi, founder of the investor-funded Better Place.
"We need to start thinking about this as the next generation of the car. It's about time we changed from car 1.0 to car 2.0," Agassi said. "We're following a model that's worked in Israel, in Denmark. We build the infrastructure first. By 2012 we'll be ready for a mass market of cars."

GM to return two leased jets amid criticism
*GM to return two leased jets amid criticism*
General Motors Corp(GM.N) will return two of its leased corporate jets amid intense criticism in Washington this week on the luxury travel arrangements of its chief executive even as the company pleads for federal aid.
CEO Rick Wagoner was in the capital to testify on the company's dire financial situation but his testimony was overshadowed by irate lawmakers who blasted him for flying on a private jet to ask for public funds and failing to make personal sacrifices in exchange for federal assistance.
Chief executives from Ford Motor Co(F.N), and Chrysler LLC, who were also there to plead for $25 billion in federal aid, came under fire too for flying to Washington in private jets.
GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson said on Friday GM decided to return the aircraft because of a "really aggressive cutback in travel."
The company, which is in a cost-cutting mode, is scrutinizing every trip, he said, but declined to disclose the name of the company it leases the airplanes from.
Wilkinson said the decision to return the leased corporate jets was made before this week's hearings and that the company in September returned two other of the seven jets it had at the beginning of the year.
"There is a perception issue," Wilkinson said of Wagoner's travel to Washington on a private jet. "We need to be very sensitive to that going forward."
He, however, said the company has not decided on what mode of transportation Wagoner would take if had to travel to Washington again.
*Wagoner and Ford CEO Alan Mulally are required by their companies to fly by private aircraft for security reasons, according to company documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.*
The policy for Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli is not required to be disclosed because the company is not publicly traded.

Obviously.... Wagoner will still be using a private jet to travel to Washington.
So the media criticism is UNWARRANTED!!!!
Dumb asses.
What the media doesn't understand, large companies like GM, Ford, GE, Sony, et al. ALL HAVE PRIVATE AIRCRAFT!!! And I'm not talking about 1-2 jets either. I'm talking DOZENS.
GM extends holiday shutdown, may cut production
*GM extends holiday shutdown, may cut production*
http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2008-11-21-gm-extended-shutdown_N.htm?csp=34
General Motors (GM) will extend its holiday shutdown or make other production cuts at up to 10 factories as it deals with a continued U.S. auto sales slump and fights to stay solvent.
The cash-strapped automaker told workers about the cuts Friday morning, according to local union officials.
Dave Green, president of a United Auto Workers local in Lordstown, Ohio, said workers were told that the normal holiday shutdown will be extended until Jan. 20 at the sprawling factory complex, which stamps parts for and assembles the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 small cars.
The last scheduled workday will be Dec. 23, although production will start to wind down before that, he said.
Details of the other cuts were not available. GM spokesman Chris Lee would not comment on the announcements.
Green said after Jan. 20, the Lordstown complex will keep operating around the clock, but assembly line speed will be reduced from the current 62 vehicles per hour to 46.5 vehicles. The Lordstown complex, about 50 miles southeast of Cleveland, employs about 4,200 production workers.
Earlier this year the company added workers to the plant as demand for its small, fuel-efficient cars increased. Since then, the bottom has fallen out of sales industrywide, and GM later announced it would lay off up to 1,100 of the plant's workers starting Jan. 20.
Green said he's optimistic GM will resume production as scheduled Jan. 20, although at the slower assembly line speed.

Not unexpected. I had expected more though.
Has Anyone Seen Some Great Auto Deals?
Is anyone getting tempted to go out and see what kind of deal they could get now on a new vehicle? There's got to be some killer deals out there right now with the economy as it is, and with the usual holiday season lull in car sales.
I was planning on looking at new the Camaro, Challenger, and the Solstice coupe in spring, although I may not actually buy anything for 1.5 to 2 years. But it's getting very tempting to look. I wish that the Camaro and Solstice coupe were available now.
I was thinking of looking at the SKY and Solstice this weekend. I bet there's some incredible deals, particularly on an '08.
Restructuring GM
At the present time GM needs to think about seriously redoing its general structure. It will have to address this either with a US loan or bankruptcy or anything similar. And after reading that Saab is profitable I had an idea: Perhaps GM should become a company of companies in North America.
What I mean is, if Saab is profitable in North America what other divisions are profitable? Chevrolet? Cadillac? Maybe the solution is quite simple: split GM's constituent divisions into actual corporations wholly owned by GM. This is the reverse of what GM did 100 years ago.
Would this even be possible?
And if possible, could GM itself be bankrupted leaving each of these spun our companies whole and stable? You have to think the parts are worth more than the whole.
Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions after 9/11

Whenever the time may be for you to purchase or lease a new vehicle, keep this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a car manufactured by an American-owned and / or American based company. Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed nothing at all to the citizens of the United States ...
It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis. I believe we should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets their attention..
GM Exec: No Plans To Pull Saab Out Of North American Market; Line Is Profitab...
Source: Special Automotive News Email Alert
John Revill - Automotive News Europe - November 21, 2008
*Saab will remain in the North American market despite a sharp drop in sales so far this year. "The Saab brand is very attractive to U.S. consumers," said Managing Director Jan-Ake Jonsson. "There are no plans to pull out at all."*
Jonsson reaffirmed Saab's commitment to the US market, despite a sales drop there of 31 percent to 19,318 units in the first 10 months.
Sales in Canada were down 20 percent to 1,593 units during the period.
"We have been in North America for 50 years, we have a very solid footprint and a large car park there." Jonsson told Automotive News Europe.
Sales in the U.S. had fallen because Saab was no longer chasing sales volumes at any cost, Jonsson said.
Despite falling sales, Saab is profitable in the U.S., Jonsson said.
He said: "The U.S. is a very important part of our strategy."
Obama Transition Said to Consider a ‘Prepack’ Auto Bankruptcy
*Obama Transition Said to Consider a ‘Prepack’ Auto Bankruptcy *
Image: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/data?pid=avimage&iid=i7aIi6OL8xes
Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- President-Elect Barack Obama‘s transition team is exploring a swift, prepackaged bankruptcy for automakers as a possible solution to the industry’s financial crisis, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Obama’s team has already contacted at least one bankruptcy- law firm to say that Daniel Tarullo, a professor at Georgetown University’s law school who heads Obama’s economic policy working group, would call to discuss the workings of a so-called prepack, according to this person.
U.S. lawmakers yesterday postponed until December a vote on whether to give General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC a $25 billion bailout as an alternative. Automakers such as GM could use court protection to reduce debt and reject unfavorable contracts.
“It creates the environment to deal with GM’s problems but limits government financial commitment,” said bankruptcy lawyer Mark Bane of Ropes & Gray in New York.
Tarullo referred the matter to the transition team press office. Team spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said, “We have not put out anything specific for the auto industry except that something needs to be done immediately.”
GM, the largest U.S. automaker, said it might run out of cash as early as the end of the year and that the risk was even greater by mid-2009. GM Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner said this week GM would have to liquidate if it went into bankruptcy.
The automaker probably has weeks rather than months left before it runs out of money unless it gets federal aid, Jerome York, an adviser to billionaire Kirk Kerkorian and a former GM board member, told Bloomberg Television yesterday.
How Prepacks Work
In a prepackaged bankruptcy, an automaker would go into court with financing in hand after reaching agreement with lenders, workers and suppliers on what each would give up and on the business plan to be followed. The process might take six to 12 months, compared with two to five years if the automakers followed an ordinary Chapter 11 proceeding and worked out agreements under a judge’s supervision, Bane said.
Automakers would have to depend on government financing to restructure in bankruptcy court and probably couldn’t attract private loans until they were ready to emerge from the process, Bane said.
Officials of the three automakers told members of Congress this week that they had studied a pre-arranged bankruptcy, championed by Republican lawmakers such as Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, before dismissing the idea as unworkable.
“We have looked at all aspects, whether it’s a prepackage, whether it’s prenegotiated,” Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli told a Senate committee on Nov. 18. The options are all “more negative” than restructuring as a condition of receiving federal aid, he said.
Prepacks Rejected
Wagoner and Alan Mulally, CEO of Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford, also said under congressional questioning that their companies had studied and rejected the idea of reorganizing under court protection.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday that Democrats reject bankruptcy as an option.
In or out of court, automakers will have to submit a viable business plan to gain government funds, Peter Peterson, senior chairman of Blackstone Group LP, said in an interview.
“Unless they can show us the plan, we can’t show them the money,” Pelosi said yesterday.
GM, Ford and Chrysler must submit viability plans by Dec. 2, and Congress would meet the week of Dec. 8 to consider aid, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday. Congress must see accountability from automakers, Pelosi said.
The congressional deadlock was triggered by disagreement over how to pay for the $25 billion the Big Three automakers are seeking.
Democrats’ Position
Democratic leaders have demanded that the recently approved $700 billion bank-rescue fund be tapped for the auto aid. Their plan stalled with opposition from Republicans and President George W. Bush‘s administration.
The Bush administration joined Levin, Missouri Republican Senator Christopher Bond and others pushing the alternative that would tap the fuel-efficiency loans instead.
“There are other alternatives” to a bridge loan for automakers, Senate Financial Services Chairman Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat Dodd, told reporters yesterday. “The prepackaged bankruptcy is not an idea without constituency here.”
A GM bankruptcy is the “only way” for the biggest U.S. automaker to end union costs that make it uncompetitive, Republican Senator James DeMint of South Carolina said in an interview on Bloomberg Radio.

Toyota Will Cut 3,000 Jobs in Japan as Car Sales Fall
*Toyota Will Cut 3,000 Jobs in Japan as Car Sales Fall*
Image: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/data?pid=avimage&iid=iZRNMMOCnCTw
Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp., Japan's biggest carmaker, will cut its domestic temporary workforce by 50 percent as vehicle demand slumps globally.
Toyota will cut the number of temporary workers to 3,000 from 6,000 by the end of March, spokesman Paul Nolasco said today in a phone interview.
The automaker follows Mazda Motor Corp. and Isuzu Motors Ltd., which yesterday said they would slash a combined 2,700 temporary jobs in Japan in response to slowing sales. Earlier this month, Toyota forecast a 68 percent drop in full-year net income, the biggest decline in at least 18 years, as a global recession cripples auto demand.
``Falling export demand is having a big impact on production in Japan,'' said Hirofumi Yokoi, a Tokyo-based analyst at automotive consulting company CSM Worldwide. ``It's unlikely plants will get shut down, but if things get worse, lines, shifts will have to be stopped and plans for new factories will be delayed.''
Japanese companies, which focused on hiring easy-to-fire contract workers during the 15 years of lackluster economic growth that followed the bursting of the bubble economy in 1990, are now shedding them as the global recession cuts demand. Temporary and part-time workers make up 33 percent of Japan's workforce, up from 20 percent in 1991, according to the Labor Ministry.
Honda, Nissan
Honda Motor Co., Japan's second-largest carmaker, also said today it is cutting 270 temporary workers at its Saitama plant, where the carmaker is reducing output of Accord sedans by 40,000 units. Honda is also cutting production in the U.K. of Civic compacts and CR-V sport-utility vehicles by 21,000 units.
Nissan Motor Co. said last week it will reduce its domestic production by an additional 72,000 units. Japan's third-largest automaker had its credit rating cut one notch today by Fitch Ratings, which cited the company's dependence on the weak U.S. auto market and an appreciation of the yen.
Toyota gained 4.6 percent to 3,080 yen at the close of trading today in Tokyo. The shares have dropped 49 percent this year, set for the worst annual performance since at least 1975.
Credit Crunch
The credit crunch has crippled U.S. vehicle sales, forcing General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC to seek a combined $25 billion in U.S. government loans as they burn through cash. U.S. unemployment claims for the week ended Nov. 15 surged to the highest since 1992 as Americans filed 542,000 initial jobless claims.
Japan's exports declined at the fastest pace in almost seven years in October, and Toyota's U.S. sales plunged 23 percent last month.
Toyota, heading for its first drop in U.S. sales in 13 years, will extend the Christmas-New Year closure at its U.S. and Canadian plants by two days. The carmaker will also cut Sienna minivan output in Indiana by half in January and slow one of two Georgetown, Kentucky, factory lines.
While no full-time employees will be laid off, the company will eliminate at least 50 percent of its 500 temporary workers at the Georgetown plant during the first three months of 2009.

To raise the car, or not to raise the car?
Well, I am sitting on BC coilovers right now. Car is lowered. And I was thinking about raising it for winter time. (Height is adjustable) I live out in Kansas, we average close to 2 feet of snow annually. Was curious if it would be a good idea to raise the car up, or leave it lowered. I personally don't like the raised look, and having to get the car aligned afterwards. But if it benefits underneath the car better and makes the front end less like a shovel, I will be happy and consider it.
This is how the car sits now with the winter wheels and tires:

Any personal opinions regarding your car and what you do would be great.

Sealing up Headlights / Retro's- What do You Use?
I've pulled apart headlights before but was currious on how other are doing this?
I've just re-heated the housing to get the factory sealant sticky again & then re-installing the lense. I've then run a bead of clear silicone along the outside edge to keep them water tight.
Any other suggestions or tips on how you do this?
